Enrichment Program for Students in Years 6 and 7
MASA invited a teacher from your school to attend this afternoon workshop with several of your most interested mathematicians from Yr 6 and 7. The program provided the opportunity for students to develop new ways of working mathematically as they solved some challenging mathematical problems. In 2012, there will be a new division of SA Schools’ Maths Competition for Year 6 and 7s. Students will also be introduced to the type of questions they may encounter in this challenging problem solving competition.
Try Surveying for Year 10 Students
One of the initiatives of MASA for 2011 was to link members of the Try Surveying team with schools to raise awareness of surveying as a career through school based activities. This event provided an insight into the career of surveying and is an opportunity for students to work with surveyors. They learnt how to use Stations and Prisms that we see in use all the time. We invited a teacher from your school to attend this event with several interested students. If you feel that the experience would be beneficial for your students, you can organise a visit to your school from the TRY SURVEYING team.
